TRAPPO's SPOOKY MAIL BAG!
Hang on tight, dear listeners, because it's time for an especially spooky edition of the show that talks about you on purpose! What does that mean, exactly? Well, we just figured it would be a neat idea to round up all the comments you fine folks left here at the old blog on our three Halloween-centered posts and read them aloud in one episode. Hence TRAPPO's SPOOKY MAIL BAG! There's nothing inherently spooky about the episode itself, unless you think listening to people reading comments regarding the mediocre recent Hellraiser reboot is somehow spooky. It might be. Honestly, we were pretty happy with all the comments this time around. You all made some astute observations and we were thrilled to see it. We appreciate everybody taking the time to leave comments, not just for this episode but overall. We've got a pretty cozy little community of weirdoes here, and we think you're all just neat. The episode is embedded below, but you can also find it on Apple, Google, RadioPublic (still no answers regarding that one), Pocket Casts , Spotify and Anchor... and we're now officially on Amazon Music! So now there really is no excuse for you not to listen to the show.
Let's all choose our own adventure and listen to the latest episode of TRAPPO!
Join the conversation! It's so easy to do, dear listener. You know you want to be a part of this goofy little family. All you have to do is leave a comment below. That's it. You don't have to share any personal information, or even a name if you're not feeling those lighters. Just make a name up. It doesn't matter. If you have something to say, just type it out below and we'll read it, whatever "it" happens to be. Do you have any feedback regarding our show? Great! Leave it below. Do you want to tell us about some cool new book, movie or musical creation you've discovered? Fantastic! Tell us below. Are you feeling bizarrely introspective and want to tell us all about that time you experimented with autoerotic asphyxiation in college? We're willing to listen. Just type it out below and let's get this dialogue started.
And hey! If you're thinking about commenting, but you wonder if maybe the mountain of text you're about to unleash won't fit within the confines of a mere blog comment, fret no longer, for there is a solution! It's this handy, dandy invention called "electronic mail", and this post-modern miracle might just be your one-way ticket to TRAPPO-TOWN, population unknown! Just click on these words right here and you're already halfway there! Then just type out whatever's been churning around in the recesses of your diseased mind and send it our way. We will read it, we will appreciate it, and we will cherish it until the end of time. Or at least until we get our next email, then we'll probably forget all about whatever you've shared. But the world won't, since it will be featured on a future episode of TRAPPO's Mail Bag! So if you've got something you just need to get off you chest and are willing to share whatever that is with an audience of dozens, send that email right away!
We're also on Instagram and Twitter (until the platform crashes or is completely co-opted by the alt-right), and we might even expand to other social media platforms in the near future if we feel it's necessary, so stay tuned. The TRAPPO family is growing, friends. Like an antibiotics-resistant infection. You're gonna want to get in on this action before the gravy train leaves the station, then in a few years you can tell your unbelieving friends that you listened to TRAPPO before it was cool. Or at least before the indictments were handed down. Whichever comes first.
TRAPPO AETURNUM!
(Once again our host Blogger has unceremoniously deleted a comment from the blog without rhyme or reason, and I repost it here through my admin account because Norman Rod's comment deserves to be read. Sorry about this, Norman. -Dustin)
ReplyDeleteI listened to this podcast and I thought it was okay. I didn't have any context for it, because your Instagram post popped up when I was searching for something else about the new Hellraiser movie, so maybe this wouldn't be anybody's ideal first episode. But I did go back and find your Hellraiser review episode and I listened to most of it. The conversation rambled alot, but I appreciate the enthusiasm and you made good points. I think I liked the movie a little less, but I can appreciate it for what it is. The new Priest is better than Doug Bradley though. I don't care what anybody says. She just has more of a subtle presence to her that I like quite a bit. I hope we got more movies with these Cenobites because they deserve more of a spotlight.
I don't really have anything to recommend since the last thing I watched was that Hellraiser movie and I wouldn't recommend it to anybody. I also never experimented with auto-erotic asphyciation. I mean I guess I had a mild curiosity, but that stuff's dangerous. I'm pretty sure that's how David Carradine died. That's not worth the risk. It kind of reminds me of Hellraiser in a way. David Carradine might have been looking for that new frontier of pleasure, but, much like solving the Lament Configuration, the prize isn't what you wanted after all. Frank got dragged to Hell by a bunch of chains and tortured by a cult of horny demons. Carradine just choked to death in a hotel closet with his dick in his hand. I think Carradine got off light.
Just imagine if the solved the puzzle box and the Cenobites were big fans of Kung Fu.
Talk about Conan The Barbarian! That movie is fucking legendary!
ReplyDeleteI like horror movies. They're my favorite stuff to watch. All sorts of horror movies. All sub-genres. Maybe you gentlement could discuss more horror movies here on TRAPPO, the show that talks about stuff on purpose. Maybe you could just do an episode discussing modern horror, or 80's slasher movies, or the maybe you could break down a franchise like A Nightmare On Elm St. There's a lot of possibilities here. Think about it, TRAPPO.
ReplyDeleteI am really happy about the resurgence in horror hosts in recent years. Between Svengoolie still broadcasting each week on MeTV, Joe Bob Briggs with The Last Drive-In on SHUDDER, Count Gore de Vol with his own app and others, not to mention all the new kids on the block trying to make a name on YouTube, it’s a pretty cool site to see. I just love the format and have always been fascinated by it. Maybe there’s an episode in there, guys?
ReplyDeleteThat would be a cool topic. Kind of a TRAPPO history lesson. There’s a lot of ground to cover, so maybe it could be a bonus episode, multi part thing. I’d love to hear more about horror music. Not Halloween music, but music that leans into themes of horror and dread. I honestly would like to know more about this stuff, cause I know it’s out there, but I’m not aware of a lot of it. Yes, I know I’m typing this on a phone and could just Google the topic and learn stuff, but you fuckers want suggestions for episode topics, so fucking educate me. What’s horror music, uncle TRAPPO? Ring the bell, because I think class is in session.
