The Merrill Strand Experience! (Poll Closed)

(The poll is now closed, and I'm happy to inform you, dear listener, that both Bestial Mouths' R.O.T.T. (inmyskin) and 24 from Minuit Machine have officially been inducted into the TRAPPO Essentials Can(n)on! That's exciting, right? -D)

It's finally here! The long-awaited response to an email we received back in October of 2023 has finally arrived! Our good friend Merrill Strand was kind enough to write a well thought out email that recommended thirteen albums for our listening pleasure, and we didn't actually get around to responding to Merrill's lovely correspondence until January, and now, at long last, six entire months later, the actual episode, The Merrill Strand Experience is finished and here! So you're welcome, Merrill! We listened to all of the music you told us to listen to, and now we're going to talk about all of that music in this insanely long episode that we can't imagine anybody actually listening to the end! You can attempt to listen to our latest episode below, or find TRAPPO on Apple, RadioPublic, Pocket Casts, Spotify, Spotify Spotify, and Amazon, so choose your own adventure and join us on this exciting musical odyssey!

If you'd like to sample the music of R.O.T.T. (inmyskin), you can CLICK HERE to visit their Bandcamp or just listen below:

And if you'd like to check out Minuit Machine's 24, just CLICK HERE to visit their Bandcamp or listen below:

Hey! Did you check out this ridiculously long episode? It only happened because one of our awesome weirdo viewers dared to send us an email! Would you like us to dedicate an entire episode to your musical recommendations? Then leave a comment below! Tell us what's currently in heavy rotation on your music app(s) of choice. What's your essential music? We want to know. Leave a comment. Leave several comments. Or just roll the dice like Merrill and send us an email! Just direct that bloated correspondence to trapposhow@gmail.com and we might actually respond to it at some not too distant point in the future! Stranger things have happened!

We're also all over that social media thing. Just check us out on Threads and Instagram if you're interested. Join the shenanigans! Thread with the TRAPS on the 'gram at your leisure! Or don't. It's entirely up to you. We don't really mind either way. But you'd be a lot cooler if you followed us on Threads. The sun may shine a little brighter tomorrow because you've got TRAPPO in your social media lives. Unless it's cloudy where you live. Then I'm sorry, but that's not really our fault, so you can't blame us.

That's all for now. Thanks for the music, Mavis! And thanks for the toilet pic!

Much appreciated, Mavis!

Next Week: Spring-O-Ween!

  1. Someone sent you a picture of a toilet?

  2. Lots going on here. A little overwhelming, really. Good music, no doubt. Some of it, anyway. An okay experience.

  3. One day Ky will learn how to pronounce ALCEST. One day. And one day Bimmy will conquer Mars. I enjoyed the really BIG show. Plenty of new music to check out. It's like one of those boxes of assorted chocolates you get for Valentine's Day. Every now and then one of them is something janky like strawberry cream and you toss that shit into the trash where it belongs. But sometimes you get delicious caramel cream and you wish they could all taste so good. And most of them are fine. So we're gonna have to wade through some Hellfreaks to get to Drab Majesty. That's a solid tradeoff.

  4. I can’t believe you got a toilet pick. I can’t believe that was a real email address. What the hell is wrong with this world? It’s a disease.

  5. The Heavens Gate stuff is really disturbing. Hearing the cult leader’s voice in the podcast was uncomfortable. The drab majesty album was cool. My favorite of the bunch, at least of the four I have listened to.

  6. HELLFREAKS are just a lame version of HORRORPOPS and the world knows it. Boo this band. Boo them. They’re lame.

I’d like to hear the show discuss the music of REM sometime. They released 15 albums during their tenure, so maybe you could split the REM retrospective (REMtrospective?) into 2 episodes.
