New Music Showcase: "Into The Realm" from Castle Rat!

Welcome back, dear listeners! The show that talks about stuff on purpose is back with a brand-new New Music Showcase! And this isn't just any New Music Showcase! This week, we're talking about the debut album, provocatively titled Into The Realm, from a Brooklyn-based medieval fantasy doom metal outfit called CASTLE RAT! You need to check this stuff out, dear listeners! So without further ado, let's get right to the main event! You can listen to our latest episode below, or find TRAPPO on Apple, Pocket Casts, RadioPublic, Spotify, The Other Spotify, and Amazon, so choose your own adventure, sharpen your broadsword, and go pick a fight with a big fucking dragon at your earliest convenience!

You may have noticed that there is no poll here in the usual place. That's because Into The Realm has already been inducted into the TRAPPO Essentials Can(n)on. We're not leaving this up for a vote, kids. The music is just too good to leave its fate in your unworthy hands. But we STRONGLY encourage you to listen to CASTLE RAT's music. Listen to it often. Crank up that volume until your ears bleed. Your brain will thank you. Click here to check out CASTLE RAT's Bandcamp page, or sample their music through the handy embed below! Enjoy!

Join the conversation! Tell us what you think of CASTLE RAT and their amazing album Into The Realm, your thoughts on medieval fantasy doom metal in general, or just share your dragon slaying tips and tricks in a comment below. We would also love it if you shared some of your favorite recipes with us. Well, Ky would love it if you shared some of your favorite recipes with us. I don't particularly care one way or the other, but my co-host seems pretty obsessed with this topic and he's clearly not going to let it go any time soon, so please, if you have any recipes you would like to share with complete strangers on the internet, post them in a comment below. You could also share those recipes in an email if you would prefer. You could send whatever you want in an email, just to be clear, but we are always willing to check out your recipes. Just direct those emails to trapposhow@gmail.com and we will be your friends for life.

Did you know that TRAPPO is on social media? Based on the number of followers we have, you probably didn't know, but now you do! We're hanging out on Instagram and Threads, so check us out! We're mostly on Threads, to be fair. Not much going on over at Instagram these days, but we've always got something cooking on Threads, so give us a follow and we'll probably follow you back. I don't know why people drag Threads so much. The little community we've gathered over there is pretty damned cool, and we think you'd really enjoy being a part of it! So go do that! Follow TRAPPO on Threads

Follow CASTLE RAT on Instagram, too! They deserve millions of followers! If Kim fucking Kardashian has 362 million followers on Instagram, CASTLE RAT deserves at least half that many followers. Or twice that many followers. Why not? Let's shoot for the moon. Maybe the TRAPPO bump can finally put CASTLE RAT over the top and get them 724 million followers on Instagram. All we have to do is believe, dear listeners! Let us pray to the almighty algorithm and it might just grant our wish!

Listen to Into The Realm. Let CASTLE RAT become your new obsession.

  1. Castle Rat kicks ass. This feels like a group of drama class kids obsessed with Black Sabbath and cheap fantasy movies got together and formed a metal band. It's real creative and fun and I thknk it s cool.

  2. When the lady belting out the tunes is dressed like a sexy barbarian with Elvira eye makeup, swinging a big sword, you win. You just win. I don't care if the music sucks. I'll buy the album. I'll go see you in concert. I'm easy. Luckily, INTO THE REALM is cool as heck. I'm a happy camper.

  3. This is one of the coolest records I've heard in years. I just pre-ordered the vinyl because TRAPPO introduced me to Castle Rat, and now I'm a big fan. Thanks for that. I can't believe the vinyl is in its third pressing, already. That's a popular record, guys. Castle Rat is legit!
