1) Essential Albums (Part One)
TRAPPO. IS BORN...
The big moment has finally arrived! The very first episode of TRAPPO. is now live! Maybe you can tell, but I'm very excited about this. It's only been eleven years in the making, after all.
We've kicked things off with a pretty big concept, too: essential albums. Our first assignment is to find ten essential albums to be inducted in the glorious TRAPPO. Essentials Can(n)on. What exactly is the TRAPPO. Essentials Can(n)on? You'll have to listen to the episode to find out. I'm also not going to reveal any of the albums we nominate in the podcast here, because I don't want to spoil anything. If I just told you everything we discussed in the actual podcast, then you'd have no incentive to listen, would you? I'm not an idiot. The conceit here is that yours truly and my co-host Ky have each brought five albums we deem essential to the table, and it's our duty to defend our picks and justify their induction into the Can(n)on. Will we find harmonious consensus or will there be blood? No spoilers here, friends.
I will clarify that the ten albums we discuss -- well, five albums, since this is only part one of two, and the final five albums won't be revealed until our second episode drops -- are not necessarily our absolute all-time favorite albums. We certainly hold them all in very high regard, but don't take this is a ranked list of our favorite albums. Our definition of "essential" is an album that is so good from beginning to end that we never want to skip a track when we're listening. There can be no duds on an essential album. No filler. It's an all or nothing proposition. In short, we're looking for musical perfection, and nothing less will do. Nothing less deserves a place in the venerated TRAPPO. Essentials Can(n)on.
So if you'd like to tune in to our first episode, you can do so via the convenient player below, you can visit the direct link here, or you can find us on Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, and even Stitcher, so choose your own adventure and subscribe wherever you feel is most convenient.
I think Third Eye Blind's first album is pretty great. I must have listened to that a hundred times back in the day. The crickets is annoying though it makes me wanna fall asleep.
ReplyDeleteTHird Eye Blind's second album is much better, but i wouldn't call anything they made great. Some of that stuff from your childhood doesn't hold up real well. Nostalgia is a cancer.
DeleteCan you explain the name? What does Trappo mean? It doesn't make any sense to me. You guys are talking about music and stuff, so what does the name mean? Does it have anything to do with music? The show's a little loose, maybe. I sat through the whole thing, but it took me a few times, and you could tighten things up if you keep making these. I don't know. I've never made a podcast before, but I guess I was entertained. Hope things improve in the future. My favorite record is Led Zepplin II. My favorite song is Moby Dick.
