TRAPPO's Old Music Showcase! (Buddy Holly & Moondog)

Welcome back, dear listener. Did you enjoy your Spring-O-Ween festivities? I certainly hope so. We here at TRAPPO celebrated in the traditional manner, which we cannot discuss in polite company. But that's all in the past now. May has arrived, and now we're doing something new! And by "something new", I mean something old, since now is the time for our inaugural Old Music Showcase! This is clearly different from our New Music Showcase, since we're not showcasing new music in this episode. Instead, we're showcasing... old music. Got it? Good. It's not complicated. In this exciting installment, we shall be focusing on the 1950s, discussing the accomplishments of rock n' roll pioneer Buddy Holly and the somewhat obscure experimental musician known as Moondog. It's a journey, friends! So join us as we chart a new course through the choppy waters of musical history! Find the episode below, or join us on Apple, Pocket Casts, RadioPublic, Spotify, I Can't Believe It's Not Spotify, and Amazon, so choose your own adventure and begin your musical education with Professor TRAPPO!

Join the conversation! Leave some comments below, telling us what you think of the music we've highlighted in our latest episode, and if you've got some history lessons for us, feel free to share them! We want to know what's going on in your pop culture lives! You could also send us an email if you don't think the thoughts you intend to share will fit within the confines of a simple blog comment. Our address is trapposhow@gmail.com, so just click that link and teach TRAPPO a thing or two. We're also all over social media, so follow us on Instagram and join us on Threads for the complete TRAPPO experience, whatever that is. We can find out together.

Thanks for listening!

  1. This Moondog stuff is barely music. Do people really hold this guy in high regard? Was he a hypnotist or something?

I know I said I was done, but I love Buddy Holly so I tuned in. It was okay, but you probably could have done an entire episode on Holly and the way he influenced the music business of the second half of the 20th century. That could’ve been really great.

  4. I had a lot of fun with the old music showcase. I didn't know this Moondog guy existed, and now I want to hear Cosmos in its entirety, even if it ends the world. Especially if it ends the world. I hope this wasn't a one-time thing, because there's a lot of potential in this, TRAPS. I really thought this was a cool episode, and I'd love to see where you go with future episodes. Maybe, MAYBE, you could tackle Screamin' Jay Hawkins in a future showcase? There's a story to be told. TRAPPO needs to tell that story.
