Happy Halloween! (TRAPPO Rises From The Grave)
Hello once again, Dear Listener, and Happy Halloween! It's October, and that means TRAPPO is back with its fifth season of frivolity! It's been a bit of a rocky year for us to say the least, and I do sincerely apologize for the abrupt and unadvertised end to our truncated fourth season, especially after our last episode, which we had intended as the beginning of the unrealized second half of the season. The short answer as to what happened: Life happened. Your humble author is dealing with some ongoing health issues that often prevent me from recording and editing episodes, and my co-host's somewhat erratic schedule keeps us from getting things together as often as we'd like. But we've decided to power through and keep making TRAPPO, if for no other reason than because it's something we still enjoy doing. Moving forward, things are going to be a little different around here.
To start, we will have no set schedule for episode releases, but we guarantee at least one new episode of TRAPPO each month. That doesn't sound like much, but we are intending to release two episodes per month, and if things work out particularly well, you might even get three episodes on certain months. Truly an embarrassment of riches here in TRAPPO Town. But you're gonna get at least one new episode every month, which is definitely better than we've been able to manage so far this year. Second, we've decided to push away from our traditional format a bit, so don't expect a regular stream of standard episodes of TRAPPO in the future. We're still going to do occasional album exchanges and stuff, and there will be a new edition of the TRAPPO Music Awards in January, but we really want to do other things with our podcast to keep it interesting for ourselves, so expect more odd experimental stuff and more KTRP-related episodes coming up this season.
So that's the latest update here from your friends at the show that talks about stuff on purpose. We're still around, still making our podcast, and we hope you will join us as TRAPPO continues in its fabulous fifth season. Speaking of which, our season premiere, Essential Albums, Vol. 5, went live on October 22, and if you haven't heard it yet, you can give it a listen below. As per usual, your hosts bring some more of their favorite albums to the table for induction into the illustrious TRAPPO Essentials Can(n)on, but this time there's a twist: we each brought five albums (ten in total), and there's only room for five albums in the Can(n)on. So how do we decide which albums make the cut? You'll have to listen to find out.
And of course TRAPPO loves Halloween with an almost irresponsible passion, so we've exhumed our Spooky Music Showcase format once again to have a terrifying discussion regarding the hitsory of Halloween novelty records, spooky sound effects collections, and everything in between. It's a super-sized episode that's sure to curdle your blood, and you can listen to it below.
And it wouldn't be Halloween without a macabre new broadcast from your favorite fiends at 66.6 KTRP, The Home Of Halloween! Join Dr. Butcher for a spine-tingling conversation with his special guest, folklore studies professor Almaric Friedman from St. Lucian's Community College all about some of their favorite documented hauntings on this special episode of Transmissions From Elsewhere! And there might be a few more surprises in store for you, trick-or-treaters! So tune in below!
You can also find these fine episodes, as well as the entire TRAPPO catalogue, by clicking RIGHT HERE, or you can find the show on Apple Podcasts, Pocket Casts, Spotify and Amazon, so choose your own adventure and give yourself a treat this Halloween!
